Alex began his career in 1974 working with his father, James D. LaRue Jr., as an accountant and part-time insurance solicitor. He became a licensed agent in 1980 and purchased the agency in 1992 from his father. Shortly after that, he created LaRue Classic Insurance to insure specialty vehicles such as muscle cars, street rods, race cars, car events, and more. He assists both new and existing customers with their commercial and personal insurance needs.

Alex is an active member of the Hodgenville Rotary Club and the Goodtime Cruisers. He has served his community over the years as an active member of the LaRue County Chamber of Commerce and various other community organizations. He is an Elizabethtown Community and Technical College Distinguished Alumni.

Alex and his wife, Iris, have three children, Aaron, Jack, and Alison. They are proud that Aaron and Jack both work in the family business. Alison is an elementary school teacher. Alex and Iris are active in their community, love to travel, and enjoy their grandchildren.
